Nature has a tremendous impact on our well being. It heightens our senses and brings a relaxing mood to our hearts. So if you are stressed over work, try visiting the park, the mountains or the beach and feel the positive effect that influences your mind and body. As most people believe, nature can actually make a person nicer and calmer. But, if you think you don’t have the time to actually explore nature and wildlife, nature photography also has the same effect on a person’s thoughts and emotions, and color has something to do it.

The good thing about photography is that you can able to emphasize the subject into a certain degree that many can appreciate. And the colors used and included in the photo contribute a lot to make a certain photo impressive and memorable. Research has shown that color affects the emotional aspect of human beings. Although, it induces different emotions, overall it affects the human nervous system. So, what kind of emotions that a certain color has an effect on us?

Yellow. Stare into a wildlife scenery, what is the color that you notice first? Even road signs can attest that yellow color has a stimulating effect that leaves us with a warm and satisfying impression. It is the most visible color which makes yellow flowers and birds visually attractive.

Red.  As most people know, this color represents passion and love. It is a powerful color that promotes excitement and signifies danger. This color should be used in caution as it creates intense emotion to the viewers.

Blue. The dominant representation of this color in nature is the sky and water. Through this a certain calmness and peacefulness is felt. But, it is also associated with sadness, fear and darkness.

Orange. Since orange is a combination of yellow and red, it comprise positive effect that yellow color represents but creates intensity due to the shade of red. It symbolizes strength, endurance and ambition which are signified through the flames of the sun.

Green.  The color green is considered to have a calming effect to a person’s eye. Since it is the color of nature, it is considered to be the best background for a bird’s photo. It symbolizes freedom, fertility and rebirth but also connotes negative attributes such as disease, guilt and envy.

White.  It represents unity for all colors which establish contrast and clarity in an image. It epitomizes purity and innocence just like what winter signify.

Black. Death is the first thing that a person thinks when color black is used. But, it represents class and elegance. Though this color connotes a negative implication, it actually establishes a distinctive feature in an image when used properly.
